Reiki

For Animals

Science! The face of science has changed over the past decade with huge advances made in Neuroscience and Quantum Physics- both fields now understand that we and every living thing, are more than the physical body!

Quantum Physics tells us that the world, and everything in it, including ourselves, is composed of electromagnetic energy, which in turn is composed of various atomic and subatomic particles. Underlying our physical world is a vibrational reality- our solid world is, in fact, an illusion!

Despite the fact that quantum theory is now considered FACT and is unreservedly taught in schools, much of modern day science and medicine is still rooted in the mechanistic view which is brilliant for mechanics, not so good for health and emotional well-being. That is why Reiki and Energy healing is so powerful; it works on our fundamental structure and that of our animals  consequently, the results are deep and profound.

Does an Animal Reiki treatment differ from a Human treatment?  Yes.  A practitioner offering Reiki for Animals should have obtained additional training and qualifications and should offer Reiki in a slightly different way.

I have undertaken an additional 150 + (minimum) hours of theoretical study to become a qualified Animal Reiki Practitioner as well as many hours accumulating practical and clinical experience often working alongside veterinarians treating a wide range of animals from wild animals, pets to livestock.

Working Ethically: Animals very rarely have any choice living in our world. Think about it for a moment: we choose their diet, their environment, ourselves as their guardians, the time they eat, the time they are exercised, their companions etc etc. Therefore, the fundamental principles of Animal Reiki is trust, respect and giving the animal as much choice as is possible.

Based on these principles, the structure of an animal Reiki session differs to that of a human session which is literally rather 'hands on' (after all YOU had the choice to visit a Reiki practitioner and book your animal the appointment, they did not).

An animal Reiki session is often far more a  'hands off', than a hands on affair. This does not affect the strength or effectiveness of Reiki rather it is indicative that humans prefer and respond better to physical contact.

I always adhere to ethical standards and allow the animal to dictate the session and never presume anything, rather I channel Reiki Energy and the animal is free to chose to accept as much or as little as they need.

Other animals may chose not to accept the healing there and then for whatever reason-just like us, they have times when they are feeling stressed, distracted or less open to new people or experiences. Should this happen, I will always offer to send Reiki healing at a later time via Distance Healing.

Do animals respond well to Reiki? In my experinece

Reiki works exceptionally well for animals and they love it!

In fact, the success I have had treating animals has been almost miraculous particularly on a physical healing level, and the results cannot be put down to the 'placebo effect'.

What type of animals is Reiki suitable for? I offer Reiki to ALL animals from fish and hamsters to wildlife and livestock.

As with humans, Reiki may benefit animals with physical, mental, behavioral or emotional issues.

Reiki is frequently used for:

  • Maintenance of optimal health

  • Recovery from competition

  • Preparation for competition

  • Pain management

  • Stress & anxiety reduction

  • Promoting emotional stability

  • Helping with behavioral issues

  • Recovering from a traumatic experience

  • To accelerate healing when recovering from and illness or injury

  • To help end of life situations

How do animals react to Reiki? This really does depend on both the animal and the issues it has. Most will become very relaxed, often yawning or twitching as they release stress and negative emotions.

What happens during a session? Before a treatment starts, notes will be gathered from the owner or carer. This will include details about the animal, the reason Reiki is sought, the animal’s lifestyle, a brief case history and any diagnoses. Whether or not Reiki has been offered before, and if so, further relevant details.

The above information will determine how Reiki is best offered for the best results and to ensure safety for all. Any treatment plan will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time in line with progress.

The Animal Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied.

A session is typically carried out in the animal’s familiar surroundings where he/ she is most relaxed and comfortable. External noises and distractions should be minimised and if the animal is unknown to the Practitioner or has not received Reiki before a hands-off approach is often how the treatment commences.

Reiki may be offered to animals in open or enclosed spaces  e.g. in a stable, bird cage, field etc. as well as on their bed or where they like to relax however Reiki will never be forced onto an animal, it will be offered and entirely up to the animal to accept or reject Reiki energy.

How long will a session last? The length of Reiki sessions may vary, but are usually half to one hour in duration.

How many sessions will it take? You can try a single Reiki session for your animal and that may be enough. I have experienced amazing transformations after just one Reiki treatment. Sometimes, as with healing humans, it can require a few sessions to see a difference.

Most people when they understand and see the benefits of Reiki, choose to incorporate a maintenance plan into their general husbandry for optimal health, just like having regular vaccinations or the farrier in the case of horses.

But how does it work? Scientific studies have shown that a practitioner hands when working, pulse with the Earths magnetic field known as the Schuman Resonance.

During a treatment the bio-energetic field pulsating from the practitioner hands is over 1000 times greater than normal. Scientists and researchers have suggested that the linking of the energy fields between the practitioner and the earth allows a practitioner to draw on 'infinite energy source' or the 'universal energy field' via the Schuman Resonance.

A practitioners hands will emit pulses between .03-30Hz and independent medical research has shown this range of of frequencies WILL stimulate healing in the body.  Physiotherapists actually use tools that emit frequencies at these levels  but an attuned Reiki practitioner does not need such tools as they can access the Universal Energy Field that is all around us, and use their bodies to channel that energy hence, the term hands on healing. For example:

  • 2Hz Nerve Regeneration

  • 7Hz Bone Growth

  • 10Hz Ligament Mending

  • 15Hz Capillary Formation

Is Reiki covered on my Pet Insurance? Animal Reiki is becoming increasingly recognised as a complementary therapy in its own right and some pet insurance companies are starting to include Reiki treatments within their pet insurance policies. It is recommended that you check as this may require a vet to refer your pet for their Reiki treatment(s) or to give consent.

What is Distance Healing and do I need it? Also known as ‘absent healing’ or ‘remote healing’, is the method of sending Reiki healing without being in the presence of the animal.

Reiki is an Energy Healing Modality therefore, requires no physical contact and knows no boundaries- time, space and distance does not matter.

Transmitting healing over distance is just as effective as in person.  As with hands-on healing, it can be offered to any animal whether they are a pet, livestock or a wild animal.

How much does a treatment cost?

  • £55 Hands on Animal Reiki in the Rugeley and surrounding areas. I am happy to travel further but please contact me to discuss travelling costs.

  • £45 per horse for multiple horses on the same yard, treated on the same day

  • £25 Distant Healing

LEGAL BITS: As much as I love Reiki and fully believe in its healing power, it is a complementary modality and works wonders alongside modern medicine! So, please remember, any ill health or sudden changes in behavior, must always be discussed with a veterinarian first. If your animal is currently under veterinarian care, I will ask for written consent from your vet to work with your animal.

Reiki is not a diagnostic tool and I will not legally nor ethically be able to offer any diagnosis.

As per Section 27 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Chapter 19 of the Supporting Guidance for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Code of Professional Conduct for Veterinary Surgeons, Reiki Practitioners MUST NOT:

  1. Make a diagnosis of disease in, or injuries to, animals including tests performed on animals for diagnostic purposes

  2. Give advice based on such a diagnosis

  3. Give any medical or surgical treatment to animals

  4. Perform surgical operations on animals
